A memorable 3-day tented safari to Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve, Africa’s Jewel when it comes to the best game viewing destinations!

Dubbed “the lion country” Masai Mara National Reserve shares the delicate eco-system with Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and teems with a very high wildlife population including all the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo and the highly elusive leopard and rhino). Other game present would include large zebra population, over 76 species of big and small antelopes, African wild dog, hyena, fox and giraffe among many. This reserve is also the epi-centre of the phenomenal  annual wildebeest migration which attracts all the big cats and herbivores alike, as they compete with each other for survival and against crocodile attacks coupled with hippo accidents at River Mara crossing-point.  The birdlife range is also quite impressive, the gently rolling savannah landscape amid endless undisturbed African skies notwithstanding.

Take note that your journey from Nairobi on the day of departure will also include a stop-over at the Viewpoint of The Great Rift Valley.

This short but very fulfilling safari to Masai Mara Camping Safari ends back in Nairobi on day three.

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara - Kenya

Your safari driver picks you from Nairobi City and after a brief introduction, we depart and drive westwards steadily climbing higher in altitude and then past the panoramic escarpment (where we have a brief stop-over) and further down to the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley. Arrival at our luxury tented camp astride Masai Mara Reserve boundaries is in time for lunch. After a short afternoon siesta do we embark on an afternoon game viewing drive to drive until sunset when we return to camp.

Overnight in our luxury tented camp

On day 2, we depart after breakfast (and with picnic lunch) for a thrilling full-day game viewing drive that will include a lunch-break by the River Mara (the crossing point). one of East Africa’s top safari destinations. This reserve, about 1500 km² is made of incredible, gently-rolling Masai plains amid rapturous savannah landscapes and fertile riverine + woodland while hosting the winding meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers within the eco-system. The African sky is endless and captivatingly undisturbed. The wildlife variety is just amazing.

We return to the camp at the end of the day for a nice relaxation while blending with nature.

Day 2: Masai Mara Game Reserve - Kenya

Undoubtedly, the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, from July to October is what gives this reserve an edge among other sanctuaries in Africa. This is when millions of these berbivores move north from the Serengeti in search of greener grass before turning south again in October. As they move do they tag along big cats (that prey on them) and other herbivores that have a guarantee of food in plenty.

Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged upon request and at extra costs.
